We are proud to announce that for the fourth year the Johor Hockey Association has paired up with Ashley Morrison Media to provide a livestream of ever game of the Sultan of Johor Cup 2023.
This is without doubt Asia’s top under 21 International tournament, and with the Madrid under 21 event not resuming after the Covid pandemic arguably the number one under 21 tournament in the world.
This year’s event will create special interest as just over a month after its completion Malaysia will host the Under 21 Men’s World Cup. All of the teams competing will be participating in that event and are using the Sultan of Johor Cup as a crucial part of their preparation.
This year’s event will see eight teams contest the Sultan of Johor Cup for the 11th time, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, India, Great Britain, Germany, South Africa and Malaysia. Of those eight teams five have previously lifted the trophy, including last year’s champions India who like Great Britain have claimed three titles.
Germany has competed at the event only once, in 2012 when they went home victorious, can they make it two from two?
Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa are three nations never to have won the Sultan of Johor Cup. Pakistan will feel after losing the Junior Asia Cup final to India in June this year that they could surprise many and be a serious challenger.
