We are finally back together in the studio after the last two shows were done long distance. Interestingly during these times when there has been no sport there have been more podcasts cropping up, so we thank those regular listeners for sticking with us through 15 years and this our 503rd show. Your loyalty means a great deal.
Skateboarding was due to debut at the Olympic Games in Tokyo this year, but like other sports that has been put on hold. However we catch up with local artist Marielle Flood who has graduated from a graffiti artist to being commissioned to paint skateboards. Hear her journey and which stars have purchased her artwork, and how she ended up painting an Aston Martin for the premiere of Fast and The Furious 8. She is looking to move into painting surfboards and sporting helmets so feel free to contact her via instagram @marielle150.
In our topics under discussion Ashley looks at what the move to prevent bowlers in cricket using saliva to help shine the ball will affect the game, and what methods will now be open to bowlers. Or is this overkill and something that will be forgotten within months of the sport restarting?
John then asks what went wrong with Rugby Union in Australia. Was the board fiscally responsible and should those office bearers be held accountable for the decisions that they made that have seen the sport close to insolvency? Clearly decisions relating to the Western Force, David Pocock and Israel Folau have all played a part. The way forward is certainly going to be interesting. Is there a future for SANZAAR?
