If you are reading this you are no doubt a sports-fan, but what kind of fan are you and why are you loyal to your team?
Our guest on this show is Brand and Reputation consultant David Mitchell fonder of dna-rB, which helps individuals and companies create and manage strong brands. He looks at the current trends of BIRGing and CORFing, and how it is vital that sporting clubs and associations invest in a team of social media specialists to respond to fans reactions in a level-headed and consistent manner. Every organisation that has fans, and allows those fans access to social media. Does your club or sport look after its fans?
Under the microscope on this podcast is the issue of foreign players playing as guests in top leagues around the world. How many overseas players are enough? When do you have to limit this number in order to bring through more home-grown talent?
Also under discussion is what appears to be a disproportionate number of AFL players in the Western Australian Hall of Champions. A real conundrum for top athletes in their sport who can at this point in time play at a World level or at an Olympic Games.
We also look at the Usain Bolt situation as it looks to come to a close and look at whether the Marquee players have had the desired effect in the A-league. Have these players brought in the fans and the money to offset their wages? Then finally we look at the fact that Football’s VAR system sees the on match official make the decision after watching a replay, unlike other sports where a seperate official makes the decision.
