Thank you for everyone who made contact after our 500th show, it was greatly appreciated. We now enter a new century of shows and a new era for sport.
This episode sees John and Ashley recording remotely in line with the Covid-19 isolation rules and so sounds a little different, but as usual both have their views.
In line with the isolation theme the guest on this show is Scott Fitzpatrick who has thrown away all of his regular surfboards and has become obsessed with Hydrofoil Surfing, or Foiling. Here the surfer floats about the water and travels at some impressive speeds. There is a danger element as he explains but the sport is slowly taking a hold after being around for a while.
Former Socceroo Mark Viduka appeared to ruffle a few feathers with his interview with ESPN, but in essence simply spoke the truth, as he has done his whole career. Ashley looks back on the 2007 Asian Cup campaign, and as someone who was there backs up Viduka’s claims.
Next Ashley and John ask the question where has all the money gone? Since the sporting world has closed down we are seeing many sports and many clubs who appeared to be making hay while the sun shined pleading for money to stay afloat. So where has the money gone? When we come out of this holding pattern are we going to see sports administration streamlined and less top-heavy? Are athletes going to have to accept that the big bucks in some sports will no longer be there?
