There is no doubt that sport is constantly changing and this show we look at some of those changes and whether they will be taken up and how big an impact they will have.
Our guest on this show is Dutchman Herman Kruis. Herman is a former Hockey player who has turned to coaching while holding a position at the Johan Cruyff College and also with the European Hockey Federation. Hockey has been criticised for using water-based pitches at a time when water world-wide is not as abundant as we would like. Herman, has come up with an environmentally friendly option, where rainwater is collected and the pitch is watered from underneath. See the clip below from Dutch television.
If you would like more information or to make contact with Herman feel free to contact us here at Not The Footy Show.
The CEO of Fox Sports Patrick Delaney recently announced that his company will be looking to the Digital space to try and recoup their investment in sport. No longer are pay television viewers going to bring in the revenue required to offset their investment, so the station is looking to the digital market and how they operate in that space to generate revenue. What impact will this have on television deals with various sports? Live-streaming has certainly become a wonderful option to cover sport, but even this space has mixed levels of quality which we look at as well. (If you are interested in streaming an event please feel free to contact Ashley).
Our second topic under discussion is where does the future lie for Combat sports? John feels that a backlash is just around the corner. That this section of the sporting world is nothing more than a grab for cash and that the integrity of the results are questionable. However are the fans tired of this? Are the fans happy that the administrators use bad behaviour to promote their events?
As usual our discussion meanders into other areas, but hopefully our opinions spark conversation.
