Tonight on Not the Footy Show – 05 Aug 2009

WheelchairBasketballTonight promises to be a show for Champions, as we talk to Former World Champion boxing legend Azumah Nelson, Olympic Wheelchair basketball Champion coach Ben Ettridge, and National Championship winning volleyballer Lori Tyrrell. While Rupert Guiness will talk about the champions of the Tour de France and Simon Hill will be predicting who will be the A-league Champions in 2009/10.

The Tour de France may be over but we will catch up with the Sydney Morning Herald’s Rupert Guinness who just covered his 23rd tour and hear his views on all that transpired. He will also plug his book on the tour What a Ride: From Phil Anderson to Cadel Evans, an Aussie Pursuit of the Tour de France.

Ice hockey
Stan Scott will be with us to talk Ice Hockey and preview this weekend’s upcoming fixtures between the WA all stars and Melbourne Ice.

Wheelchair basketball
Ben Ettridge coach of the victorious Australian Rollers Men’s wheelchair basketball team will join us just before they take to the court tonight to talk about how since the Olympics they have gone from strength to strength.

WA have a new national championship winning team, the WA Pearls. They won the national volleyball title last week and Lori Tyrrell will join us to tell us about the championships and what this means for WA.

Fox Sports football pundit Simon Hill will join us to preview the Hyundai A league which gets under way on Thursday. See if his tips match yours.

Tonight we will feature an extended interview with former World Champion boxer Azumah Nelson. Famous for his two bouts with Jeff Fenech, Azumah Nelson held a world title for 11 years, and now he is trying to give back to the people of Ghana by setting up a sports academy in the hope they can win their first Olympic medal.
