Swanning Around

It was incredible to read an article by former Australian spin bowler Tim May on England’s decision to rest their spin bowler Graeme Swann. May admitted that it seemed an odd decision when Swann has only played “30- odd tests.” Yet he then revealed that since his test debut in Chennai in December 2008 Swann has played 118 International matches in all formats of the game, more than any other international bowler. Also 15 per cent more games than any other England player.

As May states Swann is 34 years old and one wonders how much longer he can keep going and with no obvious replacement coach Andy Flower would be wise to save him for the Test Matches.

Who said being a spin bowler was easy!
