Podcast #40 – Matt Hodgson Discusses the Western Force Past, Present and Future, and We Explore Concussion.

What a couple of weeks it has been with Cricket Australia finally reaching agreement with the players, FIFA and the AFC trying to act as a mediator with the FFA and the stakeholders and the ARU deciding to dump the Western Force.

On this show our interview is with a man who embodied the Western Force, Matt Hodgson. Hodgson is a man who has spent his career proving people wrong, and showing that if you believe and work hard you can achieve your goals. He was a great servant to the club, and a great leader. His farewell match was a scriptwriter’s dream, but far from riding off into the sunset he is still fighting for the club’s survival while setting up a new gym in Subiaco.

In our topics under discussion Ashley questions whether the media could have supported the Western Force more over the years and whether their diminishing coverage had an impact at the turnstiles. Also whether the continual promotion of AFL is in fact harmful to sport in the state, tell us what you think.

With our second topic, John who recently suffered concussion playing hockey looks at whether sporting administrators, who have been quick to try and address this issue at elite level, should be looking at trying to monitor players playing at lower levels.
