One thing that really irks me is when I am told that Perth is a footy town. Like many others I respect the game I follow it but don’t watch it. I prefer games that are played at a high level around the world and don’t change their rules ever season.
Over Easter Weekend the West Australian ran 13 pages of “Footy” before you found mention of any other sport, despite the Emirates Western Force losing by a point after the final siren. This week we saw surfing on the inside back page, and then seven pages before we found any other sport. Is it not time true sports fans fought back and simply stopped buying the paper? Go online instead, until the Sports editor realises that this is not a “footy town” no matter how hard they try to convince us. More people need to stand up and speak out for their sports. All deserve a voice, and that is why “Not The Footy Show” has survived over two and a half years on air!
