How will the Ashes series go this Summer? As we surmised on the show we believe it will be a very close series. Michael predicting 2-1 Australia, John agreeing feeling Australia would win in Brisbane, England will win in Sydney based on their spinners being superior to Australia’s and the other games going either way. Ashley was accused of sitting on the fence believing it will be 2-1 or 1-0 to either side.
Key issues we feel are how Australia plays Swann when he comes into the attack. Do both teams have the firepower to bowl the other out twice in a match? Has Xavier Doherty been selected purely because they believe he can get Kevin Petersen out?
The next few months will answer all of these questions, and we hope it will be a close fought battle that sees great cricket played and games decided on the last day. Will it come down to who is the better captain? Again we will have to wait and see, but England have the best chance of retaining the Ashes since Mike Brearley’s team back in 1979.
