Tonight on Not the Footy Show – 06 May 2009

Tonight “Not The Footy Show” has their third Knight of the realm as a guest. The first man to run a sub four minute mile, Sir Roger Bannister, the man favoured to light the flame at the London games in 2012.

As well as Sir Roger we will have plenty to talk about and you can still win a copy of the Firepower book, as we talk to it’s author Gerard Ryle.

On the show tonight we will be featuring:

As mentioned above Sir Roger Bannister will top the show looking back on the first sub four minute mile ever run on this day in 1954.

The West Coast Fever were superb on Monday night to record their third win on the trot against the reigning champions the New South Swifts. Andrea Gilmore was the heroine – although in truth they all were – but she will join us to talk about how she turned the game.

Neil Robertson made the semi finals of the World snooker championships and he joins us once again to talk about his outstanding achievement.

The National BMX championships took place last week at Brigadoon and Sharon Payne will bring us up to date on all the results, and there were a few upsets.

Keiran Gorman the remarkable aerobics champion from Perth won again last week in Japan, and has had to fly straight to Europe to compete, despite not having a sponsor! His coach Trudi Nurse joins us to talk about Keiran’s future which could be blighted by a lack of funding.

Matthew Boyce is following a family tradition with his selection in the national under 21 hockey squad. We catch up with him to hear how it felt to be selected and is this the start of bigger and better things.

Anyone who follows sport will be aware of how prolific sponsor Firepower dudded the Emirates Western Force, as well as the Sydney Kings, tonight we talk to the author of the book “Firepower,” Gerard Ryle and hear all about how these sports were ripped off. If you listen to the show regularly you will know that we are giving you a chance to win Gerard’s book, “Firepower. The most spectacular fraud in Australian history.” Simply tell us if you, or your club have been “firepowered” in other words ripped off by a sponsor, an administrator, a referee or even a team mate.

Post a comment or email us at ntfs@inforadio.com.au. The best entry over the next three weeks will win a copy of Gerard Ryle’s book.

Do tune in if you can to 990am from 6pm on Wednesdays to listen to the show. We still have a six pack of Ballantine’s and cola to give away. To win this great prize listen to the show and call in to enter.
