Hillsborough Football disaster.
Ninety six Liverpool supporters died and 200 were injured in the worst disaster in British sports history in a crowd crush at the start of the Reds FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough Sheffield. Most were trapped at the perimeter fencing at the Leppings lane end during the opening minutes of the game. The match was abandoned without score after six minutes of play.
