When hosting any major sporting event in the modern era it all comes down to the numbers and that is no doubt why FIFA and the IOC opted for Brazil to host the 2014 and 2016 World Cup and Olympics.
The numbers from London are remarkable; over 7million spectators attended all events with 120,000 lining the streets of London for the women’s marathon. Over 3million watched the games at the official Live sites. 90 per cent of the British population watched the television coverage, which equates to over 50million.
These sorts of numbers are a sponsors dream and also an organiser’s as with such figures being drawn to the event, obtaining sponsorship is not nearly as hard as you would expect in these tough economic times.
