This October the Sultan of Johor Cup will be contested for the 13th time in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Launched in 2011 it has now become arguably the number one under 21 men’s hockey tournament in the world, outside of the Junior World Cup.
Over those 13 editions ten nations have vied for the honour of lifting the trophy. Great Britain in 2024 became the first nation to claim four titles. India has won three times, Australia and Germany twice, and Malaysia once.
Poor Australia and India have been runners up on four occasions each.
Once again in 2025 the Johor Hockey Association has asked Ashley Morrison Media to livestream the tournament so that fans across the world can tune in live and for free via Youtube. This is a huge privilege for us, and we are once again thrilled to be involved, this year will be this writer’s eight time commentating the event.
To ensure that you do not miss out on any of the action the links to every game are attached below. The times listed are Malaysian time.
The competing nations in 2025 are: Malaysia, Australia, Great Britain, India, New Zealand and Pakistan
We would like to thank the following sponsors for making this possible: Study Perth, One Active, Project Innovations, and iJourney.
Be sure to make a note of the dates on your calendars and join the journey to see who will lift the trophy in 2025, and whether that will be an indicator for the Junior World Cup. Remember in 2023 Germany won in Johor and lifted the Junior World cup, they did the same winning in 2012 and lifting the World cup in early 2013. India won in Johor at the end of 2014 and won the Junior World Cup in 2016.
