Dean Windass is a legend in Hull and as a result of his cult status in the city he will be turning on their Christmas lights this week.
Windass was a Premier League footballer just 18 months ago when he left his hometown club, Hull City. He scored over 200 goals in his career, including one at Wembley that took Hull to the Premier league for the first time in the club’s history.
Aged 42 he is still playing but for Non-league club Scarborough Athletic, for whom he scored at the weekend in a 5-2 victory over Selby Town in front of just 326 fans. They are expecting more than three times that turnout when he turns on the lights!
