So Giteau, Mitchell, Staniforth and Valentine are leaving, as are McIsaac (retiring) and Ben Castle, and the doomsayers say the Force are seasons away from extinction, surely not?
However if there is any truth in the whisper that the original board and management signed up all their sponsors on the same three year term contracts then maybe there is some truth in the talk of doom. Not only that but these men with great foresight it is being said signed up most of the squad on the same length contracts meaning that next season 15 players will be out of contract!
Now that is not good management, so the honeymoon may well be over. One thing is for sure Mr Vern Reid, the CEO replacing Mr. Greg Harris who walked into this mess and the Firepower disaster left by his predecessor, is going to have to change the way the Force negotiate their contracts if they are to climb the Super 14 table and also remain an attractive proposition.
They may now know how Perth Glory coach Dave Mitchell feels when you can’t splash the cash, its not so easy to get the cream of the East coast to head West!
