Congratulations to Floreat on winning the 2009 Soccer Pools Cup Final on Sunday, commiserations to Inglewood United. However credit must be given to Inglewood for their spirited performance in light of having only ten men for 45 minutes. The performance of Oliver Taseski in goal was outstanding.
Thanks must also go to Aston Villa Legend Peter With who was the guest speaker at this year’s Soccer Pools Cup Final breakfast. Peter was outstanding in recounting tales of playing in South Africa, the USA and of course with Brian Clough at Nottingham Forest and his time at Aston Villa.
He raised some pertinent points about the game today and it is amazing that the FFA do not tap into someone of Peter’s pedigree on a consultancy basis.
Peter stated that he would be available for after dinner events if people are interested, so that is again great news for the footballing public of Perth.
This years event was twice as big as last year and we thank all those who attended and urge them to encourage people to attend next year.
Our game needs traditions and this is one that makes the achievement of being in a Cup Final that much more special.
