Its been a hell of a journey, this is our 499th show!
When we set out on this journey the aim was to give non-mainstream sports airtime as well as women in sport, so it is only appropriate that we should feature a female coach that is breaking down barriers in Gridiron.
Phoebe Schecter, was our guest a few years ago but her career in Gridiron has moved ahead in leaps and bounds since then. With the first woman to coach in the Super Bowl just over a week ago we decided we should catch up with Phoebe again as she had been working with the Buffalo Bills. Gridiron appears to be one sport that is basing its decisions on people’s ability rather than their sex.
In the topics under discussion Ashley expresses his sadness as to how the FIH Pro League is travelling, and how a tournament that was ‘four years in the making’ can be making so many mistakes in just year two. Will there be a year three?
While John raises the issue of ASADA (Australian Sports Anti Doping Authority) looks to be granted new powers, powers that will be based on “suspicion” rather than “belief.” These powers could also fall in the lap of one man, as those who are so well versed in sport debate this issue in the senate! If the proposed changes are approved maybe Fun Boy Three’s to 20 hit from the 1980’s could maybe become their theme song. That hit being “The lunatics have taken over the asylum?”
As always we hope that you enjoy the show, our next show ill be our 500th show and hopefully we will have a very special guest for you….
