We’re back albeit in two different countries.
Our guest on this show is former India Hockey coach and now head coach of Austria, Cedric D’Souza. Cedric is loving his time in Austria, despite the difference in temperature and is enjoying bringing through the talent that is there, although he faces very real challenges in getting the team and players exposure against quality opposition.
First under the microscope is the Hockey Champions Trophy and the question as to why the Australian media continue to ignore the success of the Kookaburras who won their 15th title. Is this a problem just in Australia or is it a problem across the Hockey World? Why is this the case and what can the sport do to change this?
Next up we look at the FIFA World Cup and acknowledge that it was a tournament to remember. IT was a tournament where some of those expected to do well bowed out early and will probably be remembered for that. However there was no doubt it will also be remembered for the over dramatic diving of a player purported to be one of the best in the World. He brought embarrassment to the game, his country and himself. The question is will FIFA step in and sanction players for such behaviour? For years they have done nothing and the problem has continued is it time they finally took action? Also have yellow cards lost their value within the game?
