Podcast #43 – Fox Sports Simon Hill, Eligibility at The Rugby League World Cup and Four Day Tests

The end of the year is fast approaching but there is still plenty to discuss in the world of sport.

On this podcast our special guest is Fox Sports commentator Simon Hill who has just released a book on his life in broadcasting called “Gob on a Stick.” We discuss the book and his arrival in Australia and look ahead to the Socceroos World Cup Qualifiers with Honduras.

In our topics under discussion John looks at the Rugby League World Cup and how easy it has been for players to opt which nation they wish to play for. It has no doubt been good for the tournament and has made games more competitive but will it be good for the game as a whole? Will these players now be tied to their country of choice?

Every the traditionalist Ashley looks at the announcement by the International Cricket Council that if both nations are agreeable four day test matches will replace five day tests. Is this ultimately good for the game? Or is it simply another excuse to shorten the game and make it more appealing to those with short attention spans?
