On this show our focus is once again football, but we turn our attention to the local game in Western Australia. One team which in the past never attracted much attention has suddenly got many heads turning not just with the football that they are playing but the changes taking place at the club, and that is UWA-Nedlands. We have a very frank discussion with the technical director of the club Gerhard Janssen, and hear what has been put in place to turn the club around and their views moving forward.
In our topics under discussion The International Hockey Federation has announced that they will launch a new Pro-League in January 2019. This new league has been four years in the making but the feeling is that there are still many questions left unanswered. Ashley and John look at the teams selected to play in the tournament and explore some of the issues that have hockey fans concerned.
John looks at the Australian Cricket team’s push for a share of the revenue. There are clearly concerns amongst the players and without the players there is no spectacle for the television stations to air and fans to watch, but not every sporting event makes money, and many national associations struggle to break even, so is the demand for revenue sharing realistic? Are the players happy to share in the losses as well?
