There has been plenty happening in the world of sport since our last show, and we put a few of those issues under the microscope and as always have a wonderful guest lined up for you.
In this show, our special guest never intended to end up carrying out the role she has had for 15 years as the head of WBC Cares. Jill Diamond Chastain shared wth us how she became involved with an organisation in which no one gets paid but does wonderful work around the world and how the boxers all give up their time free of charge as well. The organisation looks to inspire and help people from all walks of life and from a number of situations that occur around the world. Mental wellness and youth are two areas that they focus on. The Pandemic has had a huge impact and now the WBC Cares is going to have to actively go out and try and find funds.
Despite Australian tennis Ash Barty announcing her retirement John asks whether she will look to emulate her hero Yvonne Goolagong Cawley and will make a return to Tennis in later years. As refreshing as her decision is to go out at the top of her game, many cannot understand why she would chose to retire now. Being public property today is hard work and extremely tiring so one can totally understand why she made this decision.
Ashley asks whether many of our senior administrators are there for their sport or their own careers. More and more are using various platforms to promote themselves rather than the sport or club that pays their wages. In Australia do we hear too much from the owners of our clubs? Are CEO’s becoming far too involved in areas that they should leave to their coaching staff?
