Sport is built on tradition, without tradition there is no occasion and no sense of achievement.
In days gone by part of the festival of making the final of Western Australia’s premier football knockout cup competition was the breakfast on the morning of the match.
Traditions are there to be maintained, and last year saw the re-instatement of the Soccer Pools Cup Final Breakfast; albeit on the day before the Cup Final itself, as players’ preparations in the modern day are different from yesteryear.
This year with the final being played on the Sunday, – as the Perth Glory are at home on the Saturday afternoon, – the breakfast will take place on the morning of Saturday 03 October at the Duxton Hotel.
The guest of honour will be former England international and European Cup winner Peter Withe.
During his illustrious career Peter also won the first division championship (now the Premier League), the FA Charity Shield, and The Football League Cup during his spells with Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.
Also in attendance will be both teams from this year’s finalists, Inglewood United and Floreat Athena, and guests will hear from both of the coaches.
Tickets are available from Western Australia’s Sporting Life and are $55.00 per head. Breakfast is at the Duxton hotel and starts at 8am on Saturday 3rd October.
