Yesterday we mentioned the ban on the Amateur Boxing Association of England by AIBA President Dr C.K.Wu, and the impact it had in preventing a host of schoolboy boxers from participating in the European Championships in Dublin.
We received an email overnight telling us how not all is bad in British boxing and that a couple of weeks ago a large crowd stopped at London’s Victoria station to watch young boxers taking part in the noble art on the main concourse.
The reason for this event was to celebrate a joint initiative between Network Rail and Sport England who have invested UKL35,000 to help London ABA with the training of coaches and teachers in clubs and schools, as Boxing sees a resurgence in interest in Britain.
Maybe similar programs could be implemented here in Australia to help coaches or aspiring athletes move around cities in Australia.
