Ukraine’s Marika Pomazan was obviously upset at losing her discus title at the Paralympic Games in London following a blunder in the scoring. The 23-year old had won the F35/36 event when the organisers announced the wrong medals had been awarded on Friday. Pomazan was supposed to have won the silver medal and not the Gold that she received.
Bizarrely the organisers have said that she can keep the Gold medal after a ruling stated that any athlete awarded the wrong medal could keep them! China’s Wu Qing was the athlete who was promoted to the Gold medal position.
Pomazan yesterday made sure that there were no mistakes when she took out gold in the shot putt and also broke the world record. She apparently said that the anger she felt was the motivator in her most recent success.
