Congratulations to Manly Sea Eagles on taking out the NRL title, defeating the Warriors 20-10. A fantastic achievement by coach Des Hasler and his team, as none of the pundits tipped them to make the finals let alone win the Grand Final.
We would never want to take anything away from their wonderful season, but there was split second listening to the game on the radio when one felt they had to win, as the commentator spoke about Captain Mannering from the Warriors, for a minute we thought if they can’t beat Dad’s army… of course he was talking about Simon Mannering.
It may also be worth someone talking to the Channel Nine news room and telling them that NRL actually stands for National Rugby League. The broadcaster claimed Manley, ‘were top of the World’ with this victory. This is an American trait that we can well do without in Australia, claiming our national sporting champions are World Champions.
