Pakistan cricket journalist Qamar Ahmed has joined a very exclusive club when this week he became only the third man in history to cover 400 test matches, when he attended the third match of the series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Sharjah.
The 76 year old who is great company and loves nothing more to talk to cricket with anyone who listen, past players or budding journalists, as this writer discovered, joins British journalist John Woodcock of The Times and former Australian captain turned commentator Richie Benaud.
Ahmed, or Q to his friends covered has witnessed many milestones in his career including the 1000th test match between Pakistan and New Zealand in 1984, the 2000th between England and India in 2011.
