It has been great travelling through Africa and watching how a continent has united behind Ghana. Also interesting to hear that most nations feel that Ghana’s football programs are the best in Africa.
One journalist was trying to claim that the reason African teams had not performed well in this tournament was that they still felt inferior to their colonial masters. Have to say it read more like the author still felt this way rather than the footballers.
Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has apparently sacked the whole of the Nigerian Football Federation and suspended the team from playing internationals for two years. This is how seriously football is taken here in Africa.
But it is great to see that in South Africa Ghana are now being referred to as BaGhana BaGhana – a play on South Africa’s team, Bafana Bafana. Just hope they can make the semis as then anything can happen.
