Congratulations to the Republic of Ireland for qualifying for the European Championships, their first major tournament for ten years.
What is great to see is the desire of coach Giovanni Trappatoni, to continue in the job despite being aged 72. Trappatoni says that he believes he has work still to do and that he would like to stay on and build on the foundations he has laid in the Republic.
Hopefully the Federation will see the merits in this and plan for a successor to work alongside him as he prepares to qualify for Brazil 2014.
