The Alcohol Think again Perth Heat really are becoming the front runner nationally when it comes to Baseball, and maybe one of the leading teams in Western Australian sport.
The Heat are looking for back to back Australian Baseball League titles and not many other teams in WA have achieved that in recent years, the WA Pearls (Volleyball with 3) and the Perth Wheelcats (Wheelchair Basketball with 6) are two.
With their victory over the Brisbane Bandits the Heat are just one win away from securing the number one seed position going into the finals series later this month.
They take on the second placed Canberra Cavalry this week.
Congratulations to all concerned, playing, coaching and administration staff on getting the team to this stage, fingers crossed you can go all the way, again!
Paul, As Australian Champions they took part this year in the Asian Champions League and despite being 11- and nil locally had a tough time up there.
They went down 0-4 to the Softbank Hawks from the Nippon Professional Baseball League, Lost 10-2 to the Samsung Lions from China and were unable to hold on against the other Chinese team Uni-President 7 Eleven Lions who they lost to 2-3 in the tenth innings.
They will be wiser and better prepared in 2012!
Great achievements by the Heat – is their an Asian Baseball champs league? Would be interesting to see how they would go against a side from Nippon!
