Cyber Attacks have become a really worry when it comes to big business but never really at a major sporting event, but World Cup Organisers in Brazil believe they have every eventuality covered. They ave admitted to already receiving threats of attacks some believed to be aimed at the Brazilian Government for spending money on hosting such an event when so many people live in poverty. FIFA is believed to be the other target as Brazilians feel the games global body will be making a massive profit from the showcase event at the expense of Brazil. One such potential group named “Anonymous” has already issued a threat to the tournament, gets its motives are unclear.
Defence Minister Celso Amorim has said that the visit of the Pope and the hosting of the Confederationa Cup in 2013 has prepared his country for such attacks. We “obviously have to be on alert but we are prepared against any attack that may happen during the World Cup,” he said.
Let us hope he is right as Brazil, the spiritual home of football has waited 64 years to host the event for a second time and everyone would like to see the event remembered for the sublime football than the tournament and the players being hacked.
