Four titles in the cabinet and I’m still rolling along should be the new version of the famous song Four wheels on my Wagon, as the Perth Wheelcats won their fourth consecutive Wheelchair National basketball title, A fantastic and unbelievable achievement.
Congratulations to Coach Ben Ettridge and all of the team. They really are an inspiration and a team that Western Australians can be really proud of. I urge more people to get down and support them next year, as it really is great to watch.
The only downside to their success is that all of the youngsters who become involved in the Western Australian Wheelchair sports program are immediately drawn to the basketball team at the expense of other great programs. But the success of the basketball program shows what great work the staff at Wheelchair Sports are doing, and who knows what can be achieved in other sports if they can swing them from basketball.
Well done to everyone on the court and off, a brilliant effort and wonderful piece of history.
