Australia is meant to be the country of a ‘fair go’ but the supposed “fanatics,” by admitting that they set off the fire alarm at the England cricket team’s hotel on the eve of the recent Ashes test at Headingley have overstepped the mark.
The one thing they have shown is something that many true sports fans have suspected for a long time, that they are so far from being real sports fans it is not funny.
This site is not going to blame England’s despicable batting display on sleep deprivation, but is going to blame the numbskull who set the alarm off for ruining the spirit in which the series was being played, and also for the ramifications his actions will have in the future.
In the future you are going to see fans entrance into hotels where the players are staying restricted even more than they are now.
It is one thing to have set the alarm off, it is another entirely to take pride in admitting it. I am sure that Ricky Ponting as competitive as he is would not be applauding your actions.
I also doubt that the proprieters of “The Fanatics have kicked teh guilty party off their tour, as they will be lapping up the free publicity, and not contemplating how it reflects on them as an organisation.
The Police should find out who set it off and arrest them. Or take the Fanatics to court and sue them for the fire services time.
Times like this I am not proud to be Australian
Absolute bloody disgrace. People die because of hoax fire alarms.
How clever will the fanatics feel if there are hoax bomb scares waking up the Aussie team during the Oval test? Its not a prank or a joke – it’s cheating and criminal behaviour and the offenders should be exported to the colonies.
