Well done to Aussie Simon Whitlock who was unseeded at the PDC World Darts Championships but made it all the way to the final.
He took a 2-1 lead but the defending champion Phil Taylor fought back to win 7-3. Taylor who won his 13th PDC title paid the 80-1 outsider Whitlock a huge compliment at the end of the tournament when he said “I think it is one of the greatest finals. It was hard and it’s absolutely brilliant. I’m so chuffed.”
“It was like Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank, he kept hitting back and he never gave in. He kept saying to me in the breaks he wasn’t going to give in and he didn’t. It was an absolutely brilliant final.”
Whitlock picked up one hundred thousand pounds for his efforts, which were incredible for an unseeded player. Well done Simon!
