Surely the FFA do not have a bias against Perth Glory? It seems strange however having seen the fixtures released this past week that they would make a club that has struggled since the inception of the Hyundai A league play its first two games away from home, when a home game may help swell the attendance while fans are full of hope for the season ahead. In addition it means that they also will play two clubs having their first home game of the season, and as everyone knows teams tend to lift in such a fixture. Certainly the clubs players and administrators have been dealt a tough hand to start with but the week of their midweek experimental fixture looks to be tougher still. They play Melbourne on the Sunday, then fly to Adelaide for a game on the Wednesday – Adelaide having had a home game on the Friday, so two extra days rest and no travel! – Then they are at home to Wellington Phoenix on the Friday. The Phoenix have historically struggled with the travel to Perth, but now they will have had a weeks rest while the Glory will have had 24 hours only. Certainly a tough schedule for the team that has to travel the most!
