We know that the Paralympics are over, but we recently came across an interview with South African swimmer Achmat Hassiem, which had to be shared, and in Western Australia is currently topical.
Hassiem lost his right leg, when a shark bit it off as he saved his brothers life six years ago. At the Paralympics he won a bronze medal in the 100m Butterfly.
In the interview that we recently came across he attributed his success to a different kind of visualisation technique, “My little secret is obviously that I just try and imagine I’m in the ocean and I’ve got a four-and-a-half-metre great white shark at my feet. It’s definitely good motivation.”
