Tonight on Not the Footy Show – 30 Sep 2009

Camel-racingOnce again we have a jam packed show for you tonight, with a strong emphasis on Squash and football. If that gives you the hump, then we have even catered for you with a segment on camel racing!

We give a pair of Perth Glory tickets away and hope that when you hear Barbara Wall you will want to give some money to her cause, the gift of a smile.


Football – A League
Perth Glory Captain Jacob Burns was doubtful before the Newcastle Jets game but passed a late fitness test to be a stand out in the Glory’s second win on the road. Tonight he will tell us the feeling in the camp and how preparations are going for this Saturday’s clash with Robbie Fowler’s North Queensland Fury – To win tickets be sure to tune in.

Camel racing
In the Arab nations camel racing is big business even though you are not allowed to gamble. Tonight we take a look at the sport of Sheiks with Australian Alex Tinson who is the vet to President of the UAE Sheik Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Martial arts
If you love martial arts the Swan Valley is the place to be this weekend. Alan Pond will join us to talk about an event on Saturday night that will see kick boxing, Kung Fu and Taekwondo all on display.

Squash – masters
Barbara Wall was inducted into the Squash Hall of fame in March this year, but little did she know then that six months later she would be coming out of retirement. The former British Open winner is taking part in the Masters Games for charity. Her aim to raise $45,000 for the Gift of a Smile charity. She is so determined she has shed 18kgs for the event!

Squash – National Junior Championships
We will also be crossing to Sydney to catch up with Glynn Bunting who is at the National Junior Squash Championships to see how the Western Australian representatives have fared.

Classic motors
The Classic and Awesome Rides Show takes place on the 18th of October and tonight we catch up with David Christie to tell us all about it and also the Monaro nationals.

Football
Last Season Hull City defied the odds by staying in the English Premier League, one man who was on the inside to witness the amazing season was Trevor Morgan, former Sorrento coach in the State Premier league. He joins us tonight to look back on an amazing season and forward to what looks like being a tougher one.

Paralympic sport
The National Paralympic youth championships are about to get under way in Melbourne and we catch up with Athens youngest paralympian from Australia Madison de Rozario, who will be competing after having been out of action for a long time.
