Tonight on Not the Footy Show – 29 April 09

Firstly, a big thank you to the Squash Factory for hosting us last week and what a great venue this is for squash! Our apologies that we had a few technical issues back in the studio, but we hope that you enjoyed the show.

This week we are back in the studio and there will be plenty of sport to get through, as we look back as well as forward, with our special guests.

On the show tonight we will be featuring:

This year will witness the Great City Games in Newcastle England, and Ashes-style Athletics challenge and we will talk to Brendan Foster the triple Olympian who is the brains behind the concept and who wants to bring it down under. We also look back on his career and discuss doping in athletics.

The West Coast Fever have had two wins on the trot and are now looking  a much more formidable outfit than last season. We will catch up with Co-Captain Stacey Rosman and hear how they have turned things around.

Emily Bunting became the first Western Australian junior to win multiple National Junior Series Squash events at the recent tournament in Rockhampton, Queensland. Tonight we will catch up with one of WA’s rising stars of Squash.

The National BMX championships get under way in Perth this week at Brigadoon and Sharon Payne will update us on the riders to look out for and tell us why this is such a key event.

The Womensport awards  dinner is due to be held in a week’s time, so we catch up with Gemma Richman, acting Executive Officer of Womensport, to find out more about the awards and what they are doing for women’s sport.

The Former Australian and State football team will be talking on the former Malaysian national team next week here in Perth and former Socceroo and coach Gary Marocchi will join us to tell us who he plans to pick and how this is preparation for next month’s world cup.

If you listen to the show regularly you will have heard about our new competition to win a copy of the book, “Firepower.  The most spectacular fraud in Australian history.”

Simply tell us if you, or your club have been “firepowered” in other words turned over, email us at ntfs@inforadio.com.au or post your story on our blog.

The best entry over the next three weeks will win a copy of Gerard Ryle’s book.
