Tonight on Not the Footy Show – 23 September 2009

VolleyballTonight should be the perfect show if stereotypes of men are to be believed, as we have three outstanding female athletes lined up, and a good dose of motorsport. Hopefully once again we will satisfy our listeners sporting appetite.

Don’t forget to tune into the 990am broadcast of the Perth Glory Youth v Newcastle United Youth match on Friday from 3.15pm WST.

Volleyball
A few weeks ago we spoke to Tara West before she flew to Vietnam for the Asian Women’s Volleyball Championships, tonight we follow up with Tara to find out how Australia fared.

Netball
Madison Browne joined the West Coast Fever with the aim of winning more court time. She did more than just that in 2009, being a key player in the teams improved form, and took out the Player of the year award. She will join us to talk about a great year in her career and what her new goals are.

Muay Thai
Last week we could not get hold of Caley Lewis, but this week we will talk to the newly crowned Muay Thai World Champion and about how what started out as a means of keeping fit has seen her on top of the world.

Boxing
Geoff Peterson will join us to talk about the launch of World Series Boxing and what this means to the amateur boxing fraternity. What impact will it have on the professional fight scene? Geoff will give us his view.

Speedway Motorcycles
Speedway in England means motorcycles, and we talk to a man who is putting his money on the line to try and give the sport back a profile in Western Australia. Neil Webb, Former Wolverhampton Wolves rider Webb, joins us to talk about some motorcycle and sidecar events that are coming up and how he plans to put motorcycle speedway back on the map.

Speedway Motorcars
In Australia however speedway means something different, its sedan car racing, and tonight we will have three guests in the studio to discuss this motorsport. Former driver and accomplished administrator Des Alfirevich will join us along with his son, up and coming driver 14 year old Jack Alfirevich. Also joining us will be super sedan driver Micheal – yes that is how he spells it- Nash.
