Brilliant Catch in World Series baseball

New York Giants outfielder Willie Mays took a brilliant catch during the first game of the World Series against the Cleveland Indians at the Polo Grounds in New York. It’s been called the greatest defensive play in baseball history. With the game tied 2-2 in the 8th inning, Don Wertz hit a drive to deep centre-field far over May’s head. He showed lightning speed and superb judgment, and with his back to the infield, made the incredible catch facing the right-centre field bleachers, an estimated 450 feet from home plate. The play still makes baseball highlight reels. The Giants won the game 5-2 on their way to a World Series sweep. Watch the video here.
