The Wisdom of Youth

It would appear that Australian One Day Cricket Captain paid no heed to seventeen year old Daniel Brew’s free coaching advice as he was dismissed last night for a paltry nine in Australia’s third ODI victory over England.

Brew who managed to evade the security staff at Bellerive Oval and enter the post match press conference had spoken up in a lull during questioning to say  “I’ve noticed something Michael, you’re pushing at the ball too much. What are you going to do about that?”

Clarke, who despite a horrendous run of form managed to handle the question better than he has the ball on most wickets this summer and responded by saying,  “I’m pushing at the ball too much? You should be a batting coach. What do you think I should do about it?”

Undeterred Brew replied,  “not reach for it so much.”

“Okay I’ll try that today in the nets. Thank you.” Clarke acknowledged with a smile.

Sadly he failed to try it in the middle and was dismissed for 9 yesterday and 10 on Friday
