Team mates, friends or enemies?

So now the Tour de France is all over Alberto Contador is victorious and he has told the world what he really thinks of Lance Armstrong. He is quoted as saying ‘My relationship with Lance is non-existent. Even if he is a great champion, I have never had admiration for him and I never will.’That may well explain why Armstrong attended a dinner with his new team rather than the Astana team.
Contador compared their relationship to that of Formula One drivers Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton during the 2007 season at McLaren.

Is this bad management to pair two people who do not get on together, or is it in fact great marketing as in both cases they won the championship, and publicity followed? Or is it simply a case of sportsmen today being more open and honest whereas before they may have kept quiet.

Either way one has to feel for those around them, the support crew and technical people. At least Contador acknowledged their contribution and their treading carefully around the issue.
