Seeking Glory

It has been a long time between drinks for Inglewood United, with their last major trophy coming back in 1999 with the state league cup and their last League Championship in 1996.  This may not seem that long to some clubs, but when you look at Inglewood it is without doubt with its facilities and pitch the pinnacle of State League Football.

Without the willing volunteers at the club and the financial support of the Kramer family one has to wonder where the club would have been.

It is rumoured that change is just around the corner at 6PR stadium, and that Perth Glory will be investing in the club and using it as a feeder to the A League club. This is a good move for the A League club and for the State League, however it will need to be handled very carefully.

This season there have been many complaints about the NTC coming straight into the Premier League, even more so that they played for no points.

If Perth Glory buys into Inglewood United will it remain as Inglewood United? If not then surely another club will have leapfrogged its way into the top flight, even though having such players in the league would be a huge benefit to the league as a whole.

What is the situation in relation to one owner having an interest in more than one club?

Wasn’t the NTC supposed to be the pathway to the A League? So if Perth Glory brings in its own side, surely the NTC playing in the top flight becomes redundant?

We believe that Perth Glory having a side in the Premier League is a step in the right direction, as it will hopefully lift the current standard and attract more fans through the gates.

This is supposedly at least two seasons away and a lot can happen in that time, but it needs to be thought through very carefully, and all sides of any arguments against it need to be heard.

Not aware of any other A League side doing it, but some clubs in Europe have affiliations with lower league clubs to act as a feeder club.

It would but the idea has a lot of merit and maybe should not be shot down immediately. It could benefit all. It will mean that the Glory will be watching more state league games and a lot closer rather than in the VIP areas!

Very radical plan if in fact true.

Are there are other A-league – State League examples or such radical plans.

This would put to end any grand Glory plans for closer relations with WAPL clubs except for Inglewood of course.
