Defending Hyundai A- League Championship coach Graham Arnold having missed out on the Socceroos job to Ange Postecoglou looks set to leave Australia.

Arnold who in April this year stated he would like to return to Japan, having had a spell there as a player with Sanfrecce Hiroshima, is about to announce that he will be heading to Asia to coach, and it is believed that Japan will be his final destination.

At the end of the 2011–12 A-League season Arnold rejected a lucrative contract to coach Sydney FC, a decision that with hindsight looked a wise  one as he stayed with the Central Coast Mariners and guided them to their first A-League Championship.

Before the start of this season Arnold found himself caught up in a war of words after he claimed he turned down an approach from Sheffield United, and then labelled the English League One club ‘prehistoric’.

He has made no secret of his wishes to test his mettle overseas in a new environment and he will leave the Mariners this week and will be replaced by his assistant Phil Moss.
