Valentino Rossi prevented Casey Stoner picking up any points in the Jerez leg of the World MotoGP when Rossi, who started from 12th on the grid, tried to cut inside of Stoner. Rossi lost control of his bike and took Stoner out of the race. Rossi was able to remount his bike and finish fifth. Stoner was forced to retire.

Following the race the nine time world Champion Rossi went over to the Respol Honda Garage to apologise, a gesture that many feel was more about publicity than genuine. Following his apology he got a little more than he bargained for when Stoner told him.

“Obviously your ambition outweighs your talent.”

Ouch!
