Rain Stops Play, But Should It?

Now everyone understands that when you are playing some sports to try and play in the rain is quite simply pointless, if not close to farcical, but others it makes little or no difference, in fact it tests who has the technique to cope with the change in conditions.

We were dumbfounded to hear that one State League club cancelled its junior training on Tuesday because of rain!

The parents who had dropped their children off asking the coach why training had been canceled ” Can you not hear the rain” was the response.

Most children would give anything to get out there and put in a few slide tackles, and do a Torres or Drogba-like celebration sliding across the turf when they have scored, but the coach was adamant, there was to be no training.

What a sad state of affairs!
