Podcast #8 – From Assessing Athletes with a Disability to Running Across Australia, and So Much More

Another Podcast and two more interesting guests for you. Gary Wilmot was in his 40’s when he decided it was time to stop smoking and cut back on the beer and get fit. Having never finished a run at school he set out run a marathon. Having achieved that he decided to run from Perth to Brisbane for the Heart Foundation. He has now achieved that goal and joins us to look back on a truly incredible journey.

Regular listeners will know that we recently talked about the categorisation of athletes with a disability and how this worked and who made the final call. Claire Tucak is one of those charged with such a responsibility and she joins us to discuss how she became involved and the processes that are followed.

John and Ashley also discuss the Rugby World Cup, and also the NPL finals series. We touch on the Western Australian Institute of Sport Award nominees, and the cancellation of Australia’s cricket tour of Bangladesh.
