Podcast #45 – Volleyball’s Up and Coming Coach, Chris Ciriello Looks Back On His Career and Much More…

Season’s Greetings! Here is our last podcast for 2017.

This show is slightly longer than normal as we have two guests and only one topic to be discussed in detail. As we will not be back until mid-January we thought we would give you a real stocking filler.

On this show we catch up again with a young man who has put his playing career on hold and turned his attention to coaching and is doing a fine job so far. Matt Hender took over the reins of the WA Hornets Volleyball team who last year finished last in their conference. This year under his guidance they not only won the Conference but also made it to the Grand Final. This young man is so passionate about his sport it no surprise that he pulls others along with him as a coach.

Our second guest is a man who recently announced his retirement from International Hockey just shy of 200 games, legendary drag-flicker and defender for the Kookaburras, Chris Ciriello. Chris looks back on a career that saw him win everything in the game, except for Olympic Gold, having to settle for Bronze. He also talks about his coaching academy and what plans he has moving forward.

Well our conversation on Video Referral on the last podcast proved very relevant and we hope our topics under the microscope this show are as well.

First up we discuss the merits of Day/Night test matches and how in Australia they add a new dimension to the game. Our main topic under the microscope on this show is the diluting of major tournaments by sports administrators. Are we seeing major tournaments being expanded purely to give lesser teams an opportunity to upset the best teams or is it all about money? As usual we would love to hear your thoughts.

Thank you once again for listening throughout 2017 and thank you also to those of you who have made contact with us.

We would like to wish all of our guests and all of our listeners a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2018.
