Two guests on the show today as we catch up with Matt Hender and Matt Pallot from the University of WA Volleyball Club. Matt Hender returned from playing in Europe and took over the coaching reins at the club and guided them to their first Premiership in 10 years, and Matt Pallot won the league’s MVP. The club has now become the first Volleyball team in Australia to be invited to participate in the 4X League in Japan.
In our topics under discussion Ashley looks at Sports stars setting up charities or Foundations and whether they would be better off pooling their resources rather than competing against each other. Also should consumers ask more questions before donating? How much money actually gets to the people the charity is set up to help?
John raises the conundrum that is mental health. Former Wallabies player Dan Vickerman’s premature death has shown that as many still pay lip service to mental health issues and that in some quarters we cannot even utter the word suicide. This is a very real problem and a complex one.
We are always open to suggestions on topics for discussion and also guests. Feedback is always welcome.
We would love to hear your thoughts so feel free to share them with us, but no swearing please.
