Podcast #28 – A New Format and a Young WA Footballer Plying his Trade in Germany

Happy New Year to one and all, and may all your teams go well in 2017 and you stay injury free.

Not the Footy Show is back, and we are trying a slightly new format this year which we hope will engage more listeners and provoke more conversations. We would love your feedback on the issues discussed and welcome suggestions on topics for discussion in the future.

We will still have guests on the show, and this opening show sees Stefan Valentini. Stefan is a local boy who was seen briefly playing with Perth Glory before a move to Germany. He has been off the radar in WA despite receiving regular game time at Eintracht Braunschweig II. Not the Footy Show’s Ashley Morrison caught up with Stefan during the winter break when he was back in Perth to see how he was going and the challenges he has faced establishing himself.

Other topics discussed on the show are whether the four year cycle for elite athletes with an Olympic focus is still the right way to go? Are the expanded Olympics still the pinnacle of sporting achievement or are World Cup events? Also under the microscope is the controversial issue as to whether it is too early for women’s sport to have equal billing with their male counterparts?

We would love to hear your thoughts so feel free to share them with us, but no swearing please.
